Lauren Bibeau is a Montreal-based abstract painter. She studied at Concordia University, where she fell in love with creating her own colours through dying fabrics in the Fibres program. She employs these techniques by creating her own stain and paint, then staining on pine panels in conjunction with oil painting. The staining allows the natural wood grain to be shown in the finished product and showcases the wood’s natural beauty.

Colour history is the last part of her technique, The colours she uses are derived from historically significant pigments, dating back thousands of years.

Her work is strongly influenced by Quebec's countryside where she has spent a large part of her life. Quebec’s breath-taking landscapes are the subject which has captivated her for the past 10 years, evoking a strong presence in her abstract and semi-abstracted paintings.
